First Draft: Complete!

This weekend I crossed a huge milestone with my book: 47 chapters and 56,817 words later, I’ve finished the first (rough) draft!

I already have a running list of things I need to rework, edit and add in the next pass, but for now, I’m celebrating the completion of this very integral step. Throughout the process, it has been hard to forge on with the manuscript when I knew things weren't perfect, but I forced myself to just get to the end before I put on my editing cap. As a designer and illustrator, I know how different the sketching and refining phases are, so it has been interesting to see that mindset translated in the manuscript of a book.

Next, I’m going to slowly go through the manuscript myself and fix up obvious issues, and tie up loose ends but I’m hoping to have things ready for some beta readers and professional editing soon! I’ll definitely keep you all posted. Thanks so much for everyone’s encouragement and interest - I can’t wait to share Terikiak with the world ! ❤️
